We’ve reviewed engines, air conditioning, brakes, tires, and towing. You may be wondering (or not) when we were going to get to oil, headlights, and windshield wipers – the preeminent concern of all auto enthusiasts. Don’t worry; for all those mundanities of car maintenance, our Fleet Team has you covered.

  1. Oil – Change your oil regularly. Regular oil changes can go a long way in preventing a slew of engine related problems and ensuring optimum engine performance for your vehicle. Refer to your owner’s manual on your vehicle’s recommended frequency for oil changes. The frequency should be higher if you make a lot of short trips (or rentals!) or go on longer trips with lots of luggage, people, or a trailer.
  2. Headlights – Inspect your headlights regularly. It may seem like common sense, but dim or non-functioning headlights are a safety maintenance item that should be replaced as needed. Keep in mind that new cars with high-definition LED headlights may still have problems.
  3. Windshield Wipers – Check your windshield wipers annually. A dirty windshield or under performing wiper blades can contribute to driver fatigue. Replace worn down windshield wipers with with new ones, especially if they are cracked. Before taking any extended trips, be sure your washer fluid reservoir is full.

And that’s the end of our Drive Into Summer Series!
