Last week, we were  excited and honored to help the City of Richmond in East Bay launch their ground-breaking green transportation project, “Easy Go Richmond.” The kickoff was part of a city-wide initiative to do its part in reducing greenhouse emissions and vehicle miles traveled while offering transportation alternative to local residents.

Several members of the Getaround team joined forces with proponents of bike and van sharing  and a “kid’s cab” program at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Also on hand was Richmond Mayor McLaughlin, Congressman George Miller, Senator Loni Hancock and other government officials.

The great part about our presence in Richmond is that nearly all of our vehicles are 100% electric (plus a Prius)! In addition to helping the environment, we want to demonstrate that peer-to-peer car can work just as well in smaller towns and rural areas as it does in dense urban cities.
